When Creativity Goes on Vacation

Many years had passed since I'd been to Sedona and the Grand Canyon but I knew it was a place I wanted to visit again. Back then I had fallen in love with the rugged landscape and beautiful views and I wanted to share that experience with my family. Our original spring break trip to the Florida Keys fell through due to hurricane Irma. A trip to Flagstaff and the surrounding areas seemed a perfect backup plan.

My creativity had been in a lull thanks to the endless snow and cold, gray days and I looked forward to a landscape unlike anything in the northeast. I planned out all of the amazing images I would capture while I was there. Unfortunately things didn't work out exactly as I'd hoped. Suffice it to say that the trip I had prepared for versus the one I got varied considerably thanks to unexpected illness.

Drugged up on Sudafed and Advil, I still managed to make it through some hikes and I was able to capture images different than my usual work. If I've learned one thing it's that you don't always need the best of circumstances for creativity to thrive.

I'll be adding these captures to my shop over the next few weeks but here are a few previews.
